Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has criticized President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, stating that it has set Nigeria back by 100 years due to poor governance. In an interview on the ‘Morning Show’ on ARISE News Channels, Galadima accused Buhari of dividing Nigeria along religious and ethnic lines, as well as crashing economic policies, which have adversely affected the dollar rates. He further criticized the administration’s handling of insecurity, stating that citizens could no longer travel to any part of Nigeria. Galadima also warned the incoming president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to be wary of the people who “masturbate in the corridor of power” and not give them any public office that has anything to do with human beings.
Galadima noted that the masses were a significant disappointment as they voted for those who gave them handouts instead of those who would salvage them from abject poverty. He advised the masses to wait to reap the harvest of their decision in the last election. Galadima also called out religious leaders for the roles they played during the elections, stating that instead of preaching morality, they made themselves gods and thought they could install leaders of their choice. He urged Nigerians not to be deceived and hoped it was a lesson for them.
Galadima revealed that he had forgiven Buhari despite his shortcomings after they helped him get into office and assisted him to get to where he is today. He also advised Buhari to move out of the country after his tenure ends because of the criticisms he would likely face. Galadima stated that if there was anyone they could go to court successfully and challenge the outcome of the presidential election, it ought to be the NNPP. According to him, the presidential candidate of NNPP, Rabiu Musa kwankwanso, was the only candidate in the 2023 election that didn’t run on the platform of religion or ethnicity but on credibility and performance while in public office.
Galadima’s criticisms come with just a few weeks to the end of President Buhari’s second tenure. This administration has faced criticism from opposition parties, including the NNPP. The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, had recently thrown jabs at opposition parties, but Galadima responded by stating that the minister is not a politician and cannot relate to the plight of the people.
