Benue to Collaborate with Sinoki, Others in Electric Vehicles and Lithium Batteries Production

The Benue State Government has concluded plans with some Chinese firms, including Sinoki Systems Limited, to establish a car manufacturing factory in the state that would produce different models of Benue Electric vehicles for users in the state.

The State Government also noted that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) it entered into with the Chinese companies, would also bring about the production of Lithium batteries that would be used to power the Electric vehicles.

Hon Alex Addingi, Special Adviser to Governor Hyacinth Alia on International Investment, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Makurdi on Wednesday, at the heels of the signing of the MOU, with the firms.

He explained that the company which would produce hybrid solar panels and Lithium batteries would also draw most of their raw materials, including Silicon, within the state, adding that the Silicon in the state, which is of high quality and in abundance in the state would also be extracted for export.

According to him, the solar panels that would be produced would also boost power supply in the state, as well as reduce the epileptic power supply that has adversely affected the state, to the barest minimum.

Addingi, explained that the project which may be on a Public Private Partnership (PPP), arrangement would kick off soon as the State Government and Chinese investors tie up all loose ends to its agreements.

The Special Adviser, however said that the Economic Summit, which would be hosted by the State Government, sometime in November 2024, would draw investors into the state, adding that the summit would also bring about the establishment of the Benue Economic city.

Addingi, further observed that the Economic city, which would host no fewer than 50 companies would make Benue, a major hub for business activity in the North Central, and indeed the country.
