Commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade, Yola, Brig-Gen. Mohammed Gambo has been sacked, following his role in the midnight invasion of Adamawa Police Headquarters (HQ) last month, where many army personnel and a police inspector lost their lives.
Commander Gambo was reported to have mobilised 12 trucks of heavily armed soldiers to invade the headquarters.
In his place, the Nigerian Army have posted Brig-Gen. Paul Zawaya, from Michika Local Council of Adamawa to command the Brigade.
While receiving the new commander in Government House, Yola, on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, urged Zawaya to double his efforts towards reducing the crime rate in the state.
The governor, who was worried over the invasion, tasked the new commander to synergise with other security agencies towards fighting kidnapping among other forms of criminality in Adamawa.
Fintiri assured of his continued support to security outfits towards making the state crime-free, for the betterment of all and sundry.
In his remarks, Zawaya assured the governor that he would do everything possible to maintain security across the state.
