FG to Publish List of Grant Beneficiaries in January

The Federal Government has announced plans to publish names of beneficiaries of the Presidential Conditional Grant Programme in January 2024.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, disclosed this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

The programme targeted at alleviating the impact of the fuel subsidy removal kicked off early December.

She said, “We want to run a transparent system. We are setting up a site where the names of people that benefit from any of the federal government intervention programme can be checked from anywhere in the world. We want to make it public and transparent so that the government can get the confidence of Nigerians.

“All of these technologies are being deployed. We have various systems we are working on. Some of them are owned by the government others are private like remita, which we use to make these payments directly from the CBN TSA into the beneficiaries’ accounts. It does not have to go to any consultant’s account.

“What is going on now is the enrollment of more people. We want those at the lower level especially those who don’t have financial structures like banks to apply. We will publish names of beneficiaries of the federal government grant in January so that Nigerians will know exactly who got what.”
