FCTA, AEA Generate Over 13,000 Jobs, Funds 4,700 SMEs in 11 Months

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), revealed that it has, in collaboration with the Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA), created a total of 13,670 jobs and financially supported 4,761 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) over the course of the past eleven months in 2023.

This revelation was made by Mr. Chudi Ugwuada-Ezirigwe, the acting managing director and chief executive officer of the agency, during a press briefing held in Abuja.

He explained that during the period under review, the agency had created 13,670 jobs, funded 4,761 businesses, and created 3,868 enterprises.

Ugwuada-Ezirigwe revealed that the agency had also gone ahead as part of its engagement and activities promoted 9,557 entrepreneurs, grew 7,327 enterprises, and built the capacity of 1,962 entrepreneurs under the period.

He said AEA is an intervention agency of the FCT Administration established with a clear mandate of job creation, wealth creation, and poverty alleviation.

According to him, from January to November, the agency designed different programmes, services, and activities that are targeted toward the achievement of the set mandate.

He said the administration was working in collaboration with the United Kingdom Department for International Development to imbibe the corporate culture of performance.

Ugwuada-Ezirigwe said: „The categories of the persons that we serve are people who can drive the economy as it is globally accepted and agree that SMEs are the drivers of the economy.

“During the period under review, the Agency created 13,670 jobs, financed 4,761 businesses, and created 3,868 enterprises.

“We have also gone ahead as part of our engagement and activities promoted entrepreneurship to 9,557. The Agency grew 7,327 enterprises and built the capacity of 1,962 entrepreneurs.

“We have conducted several outreach programmes, and provide businesses and services to over 3,000 entrepreneurs. For us as an Agency of FCT Administration, our services are targeted at rural people across the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory”
